Description

Echoing Bramante’s philosophical vision of the ‘artificial ruin,’ this reinterpretation of the Nymphaeum at Genazzano embraces incompleteness as an aesthetic experience. Inspired by the poetic melancholy of John Soane’s Bank of England ruins, the project orchestrates a sequence of fragmented walls and subtle thresholds. Each turn along this architectural promenade gradually reveals glimpses of Bramante’s original grandeur—framing the tension between history and modernity, permanence and transience, solidity and void. Visitors are invited to reflect on the enduring dialogue between ruin and renewal, as they journey through carefully choreographed spaces that celebrate both memory and imagination.
